The Milling Process
We run equipment that cuts into the existing asphalt at a controlled depth. Water spray nozzles control dust while the removed asphalt is conveyed directly into haul trucks as milling progresses. We transport the milled material for reuse or disposal as directed for the job. Milling 2 to 4 inches deep costs $5 to $8 per square yard.
Timing the Work
Milling leaves a rough surface that requires a new layer of hot-mix asphalt. Local asphalt plants do not operate during colder months, so late fall or winter milling means waiting until spring for a permanent surface. Cold-mix pothole repairs are available in the off-season, but they do not last as well as hot asphalt. We schedule milling when the plants are running so we can pave immediately after.

Cleveland Permits and Inspections
Cleveland operates under the 2018 International Residential Code. The Building Division reviews plans, issues permits, and conducts required inspections for paving projects. Building or changing a driveway entrance requires written approval from the Planning Director or designee. We confirm this approval before starting work.
