Preparing the Existing Surface
Before placing new asphalt, we correct surface defects. We mill out ruts caused by mix deficiencies, as well as level ruts resulting from wear or consolidation. If your property has utility access points, we raise manholes, catch basins, and other utility features to the exact level of the planned overlay so the final surface is flush.
Applying the Overlay
We apply a bonding layer using a tack-coat distributor to ensure the new asphalt adheres completely to the old surface. This prevents the new layer from sliding or delaminating under vehicle weight. We then lay the new asphalt, compacting it to create a smooth, durable surface graded to direct water away from your garage and foundation.

Pricing and Water Management
An overlay typically runs $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the amount of milling required and the number of utility features we need to adjust. Proper grading is critical in East Ridge. Low-lying areas along Spring Creek and West Chickamauga Creek near I-75 can flood during unusually heavy rain. A short, intense storm in 2025 caused flash flooding across East Ridge and Hamilton County, pushing Spring Creek over its banks. With substantial annual rainfall and regular winter freezes in the area, we plan your overlay's elevation and drainage to shed water quickly before it can pool and freeze.
