The Asphalt Paving Process
We apply a prime coat to an untreated granular base when specified by the project requirements. If we are paving over prepared existing pavement or adding a second layer, we apply a tack coat between the asphalt layers to promote bonding. We deliver hot-mix asphalt by truck and spread it to the required width and thickness with a paver and screed. To finish the surface, we compact the asphalt using a pneumatic-tire roller.
